OZYMANDIAS BY P.B.SHELLEY
Ozymandias" is a sonnet written by the English romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. Here the poet brings out that pomp and power cannot be immortal.Everything in this world has an end ,Only art is perennial. Great works of art stand the test of time.
Face is the index of the mind. What runs inside one's mind is well reflected on the face of the king. The skilled sculptor has fed those passions on the face of the king,His wrinkled lips and sneer of cold command reveals volumes about his character. He must have been haughty and arrogant that he conveys through the lines "King kings'the egoist king wanted to remain immortal through his monuments and structures and not through his noble deeds.
whats your opinion about such a kind of a ruler?
Look at the video
How would his administration have been?
can you compare Shakespeare's sonnet and this sonnet?
Is there any similarity ?comment

One obvious similarity is that both of them are sonnets,i.e. a poem of 14 line.
ReplyDeleteThe other major similarity is that both the poems give out a message that time spares none.
In Sonnet 55 , William Shakespeare mocks the marbles and the gilded monuments built by the mighty rulers and the rich.
In Ozymandias,P.B. Shelly's emphasizes on the fact that the ravages of time spares none..

ReplyDeleteI don't have any good opinion on such a kind of ruler.. The world doesn't have any need of such rulers...love and care prevails the world not the mightiness or anything like that
ReplyDeleteOf course his people would have not been glad in their lifetime under his administration... They would have survived a tasteless-awkward life ..
Yes...both the poems are sonnets and both have a common idea 'art is the only thing that is perrenial ...time ruins everything'..
This poem is -good..
